The Tram was put in service in 1992 on normal gauge monitor with modern day vehicles, connecting Sirkeci with Topkapi. The line was extended on 1 conclusion from Topkapi to Zeytinburnu in March 1994 and, on one other close from Sirkeci to Eminönü in April 1996.
